It was the end of September, and the last day of the hottest summer in recorded history. Yes, September. After 90 days of 100 plus degree heat, Davy Crockett would have thought he went to hell instead of Texas. Anywhere else, it'd be nearly winter by now, but not here. Pillowing clouds of black smoke emanated from miles around from all the wildfires, while we all held our breath that rain would come soon. Enjoy laughing at these poor bastards in the midst of getting water ballooned, because, it’s hot in Texas, and there’s little to laugh about when half the state’s on fire.

Literally.
